No more waiting: Li-Ning BWF World Championships 2014 in Denmark have kicked off!
At 10 AM Monday morning the first shuttlecocks rolled over the net cord in Ballerup Super Arena. Badminton stars from the biggest badminton nations in Asia to more unknown players from Brazil in South America and Nigeria in Africa are ready to do their best to bring home one of the prestigious titles.
Denmark is hosting the World Championships for the fourth time since the first competition took place in Swedish neighbour city Malmö back in 1977. On home ground in 1999, Danish legend Camilla Martin was crowned winner of Women’s Singles, and a lot of Danish players are designated to go all the way to the semi-finals and finals this year.
The official welcome opening took place at the beautiful Copenhagen City Hall Sunday afternoon, and some of the greatest stars, among them Lee Chong Wei from Malaysia, Chen Long and Li Xuerui from China and most of the players from the Danish delegation, took part in the festivities.
