Danish Mads Pieler Kolding og Kamilla Rytter Juhl still haven’t managed to take their first win against Chinese top pair Xu Chen/Ma Jan. The Danes slipped once again, this time on home ground in Ballerup.
In badminton we often talk about the Chinese Wall – meaning that European badminton players have to deal with a lot of talented Chinese players before one of the greatest titles and trophies can be theirs.
The Danish mixed double Mads Pieler Kolding and Kamilla Rytter Juhl know this expression very well, they first of all have one Chinese pair that they have never beaten: Xu Chen/Ma Jan, 2th seed in this year’s World Championships. Their fourth clash, which took place Tuesday in Ballerup Super Arena, once again turned out in Chinese favour.
Xu Chen og Ma Jin defeated their Danish opponents 21-17, 21-15.
- We never really play as good as we can play. It’s difficult when you play against one of the world’s best mixed doubles (…) They keep us at a distance all the time, and then it’s tough to get back in the game again, because they have so much confidence, Kamilla Rytter Juhl says.
Ma Jin and Xu Chen last year played the World Championships on home ground in Guangzou in China, where their journey ended in the semi-finals.
- It’s very different playing in China compared to Denmark, but as for everyone it is a whole new atmosphere. It’s the same conditions for everyone, Ma Jin said after the match.
