The seeded mixeddoubles Chris Adcock/Gabrielle Adcock and Michael Fuchs/Birgit Michels are both out of the World Championships after dramatic losses to respectively Liu Cheng/Ba Yixin and Lee Chun Hei/Chau Hoi Wah.

If someone had tickets for Thursday’s matches and decided to skip the first ones they missed two very entertaining duels at Ballerup Super Arena.

Right next to each other’s courts two well-respected European had to leave the World Championships after thrilling matches against their Asian opponents.

The 4th seeded couple Chris and Gabrielle Adcock from England was a bit surprisingly defeated by the Chinese Liu Chen/Bao Yixin in two games; 16-21, 24-26. Especially the last game was very dramatic with three challenges and six missed match points.

The Chinese mixeddouble, which was seeded as the 14th best, next opponent will either be fellow Chinese Kai Lu/Yaqiong Huang or Ko Sung Hyun/Kim Ha Na from South Korea.

Can't cry too long
Like the British mixeddouble next to them Michael Fuchs and Birgit Michels lost their 3. round game. Even though the crowd in Ballerup Super Arena cheered the German couple forward, they had to surrender to Hong Kongnese Lee Chun Hei/Chau Hoi Wah in three games; 21-18, 16-21, 21-8.

Michael Fuchs can’t spare too much time on tears after the loss with Birgit Michels, because he has one more game Thursday, when he and Johannes Schoettler are facing the Danish men’s double, Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen.
